Work on the sound of your draft. You already worked on the long vowel sounds in a description of a person or a place. Now take that same description and do the following:
1. Change the long, deep vowel sounds, and change them to short, light vowel sounds: short i, short a, and short e sounds in particular.
2. Then change those vowel sounds to consonant sounds. First, try hard consonant sounds, like k, hard c, and hard g. Then, try soft consonant sounds like s, sh, and soft ch.
When you finish this experiment, think about which sounds most contribute to the sense, the meaning of the description, and keep that one if you think it works better than your original description.
In class, we'll continue to workshop your stories.
